The fleet of Canon image PRESS C850s at Synertec in Bristol
Mail management company Synertec is now the world's single biggest user of the Canon imagePRESS C850 system, having invested in 85 units.
Synertec specialises in outsourced communication including printing, folding and mailing, alongside electronic distribution of time-critical correspondence for the private sector and NHS patient communication, and currently produces around 14 million impressions per month on the imagePRESS C850s.
Canon's largest ever order for the press has seen one device installed at Synertec's headquarters in Wellington, Somerset with the further 84 machines split between its production sites in Bristol and Warrington.
The deal, which was negotiated over 15 months, will be worth around £5million over three years. 'Equipment capabilities and performance, project team expertise and responsiveness alongside a sound financial proposition' were the reasons cited by the company for appointing Canon as its new business partner.
'Canon came out top in every set of criteria and we've been delighted with how this partnership has progressed,' said Mark Baldock, managing director of Synertec. 'The speed of response, knowledge and professionalism of the teams has been outstanding.
'Our rapid growth created the need to re-evaluate our print offering,' he continued. 'We needed to expand capacity and invest wisely. The Canon systems give us massive increases in productivity, improved efficiencies and more throughput. This investment is a major step forward for us. The deal has opened new doors to develop business opportunities and increase print volumes as well. We are already seeing time-savings of up to three hours a day in productivity.'
'Synertec is a perfect example of Canon's collaborative approach to working with customers, enabling them to uncover gains in efficiency and productivity to ultimately improve their margins and make the most of their equipment,' commented Duncan Smith, director of Industrial and Production Solutions at Canon UK. 'There's a world of opportunity within printing for our customers and their feedback is vital in helping us to develop new solutions. We've learned a significant amount from working closely with Synertec as their customers require personalised content, short print runs, just-in-time print delivery and greater cost-effectiveness.'
