Coinciding with the launch of the Ideal 4860-ET guillotine, Duplo International has announced a nationwide 'productivity assessment' programme inviting SRA3 printers to benchmark their current guillotine against the new model.

The 4860-ET has a 475 mm cutting length and is designed to work alongside SRA3 format print engines and features light beam safety guards. Marc Legge, marketing manager, explained, 'Light beam guards are usually only available on much larger format guillotines. At this level, plastic guards are the norm but these can really slow down production so the 4860-ET has the potential to cut guillotining time drastically for these customers.'

The company has set up a 'productivity test' tool on its ideal-uk.co.uk website to enable users to benchmark their existing guillotine against the new model. The tool allows you to enter some basic information about your current guillotine and the type of work you produce. It then calculates and compares its productivity against the new 4860-ET.

Mr Legge concluded, 'This tool is really designed to get people thinking about their workflow and give them an idea of how productive their guillotine is against what is on the market today. Guillotines tend to be last in the queue when it comes to equipment upgrades because people think the technology is quite stagnant. Of course every company is different but at the end of the day, we're certain that anyone running a guillotine with a physical guard would see significant productivity improvements.'
