People in Print Awards
This year sees the launch of a very different awards
This year sees the launch of a very different awards
presentation – the Print & Paper Europe People in Print Awards.
Print & Paper Europe is celebrating several milestones in its
history this year. The magazine first made an appearance 15 years
ago and has always had a strong connection with the "people' in
both paper and print. As a further commitment to this, 2004 sees
the launch of The Print & Paper Europe People in Print Awards.
Rather than introducing yet another awards highlighting examples
of print or paper quality, this event is aimed at promoting people
and service quality within the industry within a range of categories.
These will not be aimed at senior management, but at people
working in the industry such as service engineers, machine
operators, and back room staff. There will also be the opportunity
for departmental or company awards, which will be nominated for
the quality of their service.
People matter
The categories include two separate awards for sales people –
one aimed at print and the other at paper. Here we hope to
celebrate the real achievers who not only make big sales, but also
develop long term and worthwhile relationships with their
customers and who provide extra service through developing
business for both their company and the companies of their clients.
Have you ever walked into a company to receive a really warm
welcome from the receptionist? Has a telephone operator taken
extra trouble over answering your queries? Is there an accounts
person who tries to work with you? Is there a warehouse person
for whom nothing is too much trouble? These are the sort of
people we are looking for in the administrative category. Those for
whom nothing is too much trouble and who, although they may
never meet the client personally are genuine ambassadors for a
company.
Machine minder of the year will go to an operative that not only
outputs from a press, but who also tries to increase efficiency in the
pressroom, and competitiveness within business.
How many people buy a machine and then are left to deal with any
untoward consequences with little or no back up? The best after
sales service category acknowledges those companies or
individuals who go that extra bit further by providing excellent after
sales support and backup for their customers, whilst the customer
service award will go to a nominee who provides extra assistance
and help at all stages of working with their customers.
The Print & Paper Europe Award for an outstanding contribution to
print and paper will also be awarded at the ceremony. This is to be
sponsored by Whitmar Publications.
In keeping with being a little different, the awards ceremony itself
will take a break from the highly formal hotel dinners that are
common in the industry. Held aboard the Dixie Queen paddle
steamer on the River Thames on Thursday August 26th, the boat
will travel up the river and pass under Tower Bridge as it opens
especially for us.
We would be happy to receive nominations from within individual
companies, but we would also like to receive nominations from
people who have received outstanding service from their
suppliers.
To enter the awards simply e-mail
susan.w@whitmar.co.uk for an application form.
